Palm Oil

Rainforests are being cut down to grow palm oil trees and not only tigers and sunbears are getting scarce, so are orangutans. Palm oil (as far as I know) is used as a biofuel, in Nestle products, peanut butter, other foods, cosmetics and all sorts of things, so check ingredients!

If possible, don’t use palm oil because then you will help the animals that are endangered through cutting down rainforests, and will also protect the trees. I will give up Nestle products for a start.

Endangered on Sumatra

Sumatran tigers are not the only creatures on Sumatra that are suffering. There are also wooly rhinos, sun bears, elephants, tapirs, golden cats and clouded leopards.

They’ve got a big problem because their trees are being cut down. They now don’t have so many places to live.

Sun bears have got a yellow crest on their chest. They are quite cute and very small. They are the smallest kind of bear in the world. They don’t just live on Sumatra, they live in tropical rainforests in south east Asia.

Saving tigers also means saving sun bears because they live in the same habitat.

Sumatran Tigers

In Sumatra tigers are in many ways different from others. They are also in danger. They are the smallest in the world. They are 60cm tall and 250 cm long. There are less than 400 left in the wild. They live in forests, by rivers and swamps.

We must act right now to save them. Indonesia is where Bali, Java and Sumatra are. On Bali and Java, the tigers have gone. Sumatra is the only island in Indonesia that still has these tigers.

Birds and nests make me feel so good

Hares are very rare and I’d love to see them
